Our first substitution came in the 33rd minute, with Awosanmi Promise replacing Adams Mustapha to add more attacking energy. Niger Tornadoes had a brief moment two minutes later, but their effort was flagged offside.
The breakthrough finally arrived in first-half stoppage time. In the 45+2 minute, Awosanmi Promise was fouled in the box, and a penalty was awarded. Gbolagade Adelowo stepped up and calmly converted in the 45+3 minute to give us a deserved 1–0 lead at halftime.
We resumed the second half in control of proceedings. Sodiq Ibrahim missed a clear chance in the 49th minute before being replaced by Qamar Adegoke. Chances continued to fall our way, with Justice going close in the 53rd minute and Ayobami Junior narrowly missing the target a minute later.
Tunde Azeez fired just wide from distance in the 59th minute before we doubled our advantage in the 64th minute. Awosanmi Promise finished clinically after being set up by Ayodele Ismail, making it 2–0.
An injury stoppage briefly interrupted play in the 78th minute, and Promise was denied a second goal in the 82nd minute by a goal-line clearance. We then introduced Desmond Ojietefian, Austin Onyemaechi, and Stephen Amos for Ayodele Ismail, Tunde Azeez, and Kabir Tijani as we managed the closing stages.
Austin Onyemaechi nearly added a third goal in the 89th minute, but his effort was blocked. Niger Tornadoes pulled one back deep into stoppage time in the 90+3 minute, creating late tension, but we stayed composed to see out the win.
We showed resilience, attacking intent, and control throughout the contest to secure a well-earned 2–1 victory at home.
Attention now turns to the road as we travel to Aba for our next NPFL fixture against Enyimba FC.
