We continued our fine run of form in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) with a commanding 2–0 victory over Abia Warriors at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, extending our unbeaten streak to five matches.
Under the guidance of Head Coach Nurudeen Aweroro, the Oluyole Warriors once again displayed confidence, structure, and attacking flair in front of our home fans, turning in a performance that combined determination with tactical precision.
We started on the front foot, dictating the tempo and putting Abia Warriors under immediate pressure. In the 7th minute, Promise Awosanmi was fouled just outside the box, an early sign of our attacking intent. Moments later, Adegoke Abiodun unleashed a fierce drive that forced a smart save from the visiting goalkeeper.
The breakthrough came in the 20th minute when Ayobami Junior finished off a well-worked move to hand us a deserved lead. Our momentum continued to build as Ayobami nearly doubled the advantage nine minutes later, but his curling strike was turned away.
Defensively, we remained compact and composed. The pairing of Tijani Al-Ameen and Adelowo Gbolagade marshaled the backline effectively, cutting out any Abia Warriors’ threat. Just before the interval, Kabir Tijani went close with a well-struck free kick, as we closed out the half in full control.
We resumed play with the same intensity, and Coach Aweroro made timely substitutions to maintain rhythm and freshness. Qamar Adegoke came on for Sodiq Ibrahim early in the half, followed by Ismail Ayodele and Adams Mustapha at the 61st minute mark.
Abia Warriors struggled to create meaningful chances as we tightened our grip on the game. The fans roared in approval in the 72nd minute after Adelowo Gbolagade produced a perfectly timed tackle to snuff out a dangerous attack.
Our persistence paid off once more in the 86th minute, when substitute Qamar Adegoke capped off a flowing team move with a composed finish to double our lead and seal all three points.
It was a professional and commanding display from the Oluyole Warriors, as we claimed another crucial home victory and extended our unbeaten run to five games. The result lifts us to second place on the NPFL table, underlining our consistency, growing belief, and tactical maturity under Coach Aweroro.
Next up, we’ll hit the road for a tricky away fixture against Wikki Tourists in Bauchi, as we aim to maintain our momentum and continue our push at the top of the table.
