MATCH PREVIEW

Matchday 11: Shooting Stars vs Katsina United

We’re back home in Ibadan this weekend as we welcome Katsina United to the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, for our NPFL Matchday 11 clash.

After last week’s setback in Bauchi, where our five-match unbeaten run came to an end, we’re determined to bounce back stronger in front of our loyal fans. The Oluyole Warriors have shown great character this season, and Sunday’s game presents the perfect chance to reignite our momentum on home turf.

Form and Focus

Before the defeat to Wikki Tourists, we were in excellent form, solid at the back, sharp in midfield, and creative in attack. Under Coach Nurudeen Aweroro, our identity has been clear: intensity, teamwork, and purpose.

Returning to Adamasingba, where we’ve built a fortress this season, gives us the lift we need. The energy from our fans has been electric, and we’ll be counting on that atmosphere once again to push us forward.

Our visitors, Katsina United, come into this fixture looking to find stability away from home. The Changi Boys have shown flashes of attacking brilliance but have struggled for consistency on the road. Under Coach Azeez Audu Mohammed, they’ll likely set up compact and organized, hoping to frustrate us and hit on the counter.

Team Update

We’re continuing to assess Samuel Okon, who picked up a knock in Bauchi and remains doubtful for the clash. Defenders Desmond Ojietefian and Joshua Akpan are close to full recovery, though they may not be rushed back. Alex Aghahowa has returned to full training and could feature in the squad.

Between the sticks, Mustapha Lawal will look to marshal the defense with his trademark composure. Tijani Kabir and Tunde Azeez are expected to dictate play from midfield, while in attack, Sodiq Ibrahim and Adams Mustapha will aim to bring pace, movement, and precision to break down Katsina’s backline. Nnachi Chidiebere could also make a return to action after missing the last game.

For the visitors, Ejike Uzeochi remains key at the back, while Usman Barau brings energy and ball-winning strength in midfield. Up front, Azeez Falolu and Elijah Akanni will look to exploit wide spaces, with Uche Collins offering an aerial threat.

Tactical Insight

We’ll stay true to our attacking principles, dominating possession, creating overloads, and moving the ball with intent. Expect plenty of width, quick transitions, and high pressing from the lads as we look to unlock Katsina’s defensive shape.

The visitors, meanwhile, are likely to focus on compact defending and fast breaks. They’re dangerous on set pieces and in transition, so concentration will be vital from start to finish.

Eyes on the Prize

For us, the mission is simple: bounce back, regain momentum, and stay in touch with the NPFL frontrunners. The belief is strong in camp, and with the Adamasingba faithful behind us, we’re ready to respond in true Oluyole Warriors spirit.
