MATCH PREVIEW

Abia Warriors vs Shooting Stars SC

It’s another weekend of action in the Nigeria Premier Football League as fixtures resume across the country.

We are on the road this weekend, travelling to Aba to face Abia Warriors in a Matchday 29 fixture at the Enyimba International Stadium.

After a hard-fought 2–1 home victory over Kano Pillars, we arrive in Aba full of confidence and intent. The win strengthened our league position and reinforced our resilience and attacking quality as the season enters a crucial phase.

Form & Context

We will look to build on the recent victory while improving our goal difference and picking up valuable points on the road. We showed composure and attacking efficiency against Kano Pillars and will aim to carry that momentum into Aba. Quick transitions, structured build-up play, and midfield control will be key as we attempt to break down a well-organised Abia Warriors defence. Maintaining defensive concentration while being clinical in front of goal will be vital away from home.

Abia Warriors, meanwhile, will be looking to bounce back from a 2–0 defeat to El-Kanemi Warriors on Matchday 28. Playing at home offers them a strong platform to respond, and they are expected to adopt a high-intensity and organised approach. The hosts will aim to control the tempo, utilise their width effectively, and exploit counter-attacking opportunities.

Team News

Shooting Stars

Head Coach Nurudeen Aweroro has the majority of the squad available for selection, though there are a few injury and suspension updates.

Unavailable: Ayodele Ismail (knock), Samuel Okon (Achilles rehabilitation), Tijani Kabir (one-match suspension).

Tijani Al-Ameen returns after serving a three-match suspension following his red card.

Our midfield options remain strong, with Tamuno Kalio pushing for a starting role, while Adebayo Abayomi, Tunde Azeez, and Ekeocha Chukwudi are also in contention.

Out wide, Emmanuel Ohiobe is expected to provide width, with Sodiq Ibrahim and Lucky Emmanuel spearheading the attack. Alade Balogun, Adams Mustapha, and Timitimi Ineikade offer additional attacking options for us.

Abia Warriors

The hosts are expected to rely on a balanced setup combining defensive solidity and wide attacking threats. Fatai Abdullahi is likely to anchor the midfield, providing energy and control, while Ogbuagu Emmanuel and Gabriel Innocent marshal the defensive line. Lawal Suraju will offer pace and attacking threat from the flanks as Abia Warriors look to make home advantage count.

Final Outlook

This fixture promises to be a tightly contested encounter. Abia Warriors’ intensity at home will test our organisation and resilience, while we will aim to extend our positive run with a disciplined and efficient performance. Confidence remains high, but focus and composure will be key in what promises to be another intriguing NPFL contest between coaches Nurudeen Aweroro and Imama Amapakabo.
