We return to action with a trip to the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium, Katsina, to face Katsina United in a crucial NPFL Matchday 31 fixture.
Katsina United will be looking to make home advantage count as they host us in this important encounter. The hosts will be eager to secure maximum points in front of their supporters and build momentum as the season enters its decisive phase.
Having played out a 1–1 draw in Ibadan in the first stanza of the 2025/26 campaign, this fixture is expected to be fiercely contested. We are pushing for a continental spot, while Katsina United aim to maintain mid-table stability.
We arrive in Katsina in excellent shape. Our most recent outing, a hard-fought 3–2 victory over Wikki Tourists at the Lekan Salami Stadium, extended our positive run and underlined the quality within the squad.
Currently sitting 5th on the NPFL table with 47 points, just one point off the top three and five behind the leaders with eight games remaining, we will be looking to build on this momentum as the continental race intensifies.
Katsina United, led by Coach Azeez Audu Mohammed, will be aiming to return to winning ways. The Chanji Boys are winless in their last four matches and most recently played out a 1–1 draw away to El-Kanemi Warriors on Matchday 30. They will be keen to rediscover consistency, especially at home.
We head to Katsina with a largely available squad and a positive mood in camp.
Absentees and doubts:
• Mustapha Lawal remains a doubt with a knock
• Samuel Okon continues rehabilitation
• Gali Falke picked up an ankle sprain
• Hamzat Jamiu is suspended (fifth yellow card)
Boost:
• Awosanmi Promise has returned to training
In midfield, Stephen Amos, Tunde Azeez, Ayobami Junior, and Tijani Kabir are all available, while young Olaoke Olajobi continues to push for inclusion.
In attack, Lucky Emmanuel, Sodiq Ibrahim, and Adams Mustapha remain key options, with Alade Balogun and Qamar Adegoke providing additional depth.
Katsina United are expected to set up with balance across the pitch.
• Uche Collins will likely lead the line
• Ismaila Nasir is expected at left-back
• Azeez Falolu will anchor midfield and dictate tempo
This promises to be a tight and competitive contest. We will look to extend our strong run, while Katsina United will rely on home support to swing the balance.
With momentum on one side and home advantage on the other, fine margins could decide the outcome in Katsina.
