We delivered an entertaining and determined performance to secure a 4–2 victory over Warri Wolves FC, bouncing back in style and rewarding our travelling supporters with a vital three points at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abeokuta.

Fast Start and Strong Response

We started on the front foot, showing early intent as Stephen Amos tested his luck from distance in the opening minute. Warri Wolves responded with a dangerous free kick shortly after, forcing a fine save from Godgift in goal to keep the scores level.

Warri Wolves took an early lead in the 6th minute, but we responded almost immediately. In the 10th minute, Sodiq Ibrahim showed great composure to restore parity, finishing clinically to make it 1–1 and shift momentum in our favour.

Confidence grew from that moment, with Lucky Emmanuel and Sodiq Ibrahim both going close as the pressure increased. The breakthrough arrived in the 29th minute when a fine team move saw Ayobami Junior provide the assist for Lucky Emmanuel, who made it 2–1. The lead was extended in the 38th minute when Desmond Ojietefian rose highest from a corner to power home and make it 3–1, capping a dominant first-half display.

Second-Half Control and Clinical Edge

The second half began with an early change, as Qamar Adegoke replaced Sodiq Ibrahim. He quickly became involved, creating openings and testing the Warri Wolves defence, although one effort was ruled out for offside and another was well saved.

Further changes followed, with Emmanuel Ohiobe replacing Lucky Emmanuel in the 60th minute, before Tamuno Kalio came on for Ayodele Ismail in the 66th minute. Stephen Amos then put the result beyond doubt in the 70th minute, calmly finishing from a well-worked assist by Ayobami Junior to score the fourth goal and cap an impressive all-round display. A double substitution followed in the 73rd minute, with Alex Aghahowa and Charles Ribannu introduced for Stephen Amos and Ayobami Junior, as we maintained control.

Managing the Closing Stages

Warri Wolves pulled one back in the 85th minute to reduce the deficit to 4–2. Tamuno Kalio went close two minutes later with a shot that drifted wide, as we saw out the contest while continuing to pose an attacking threat.

Full-Time Reflection

Overall, it was a confident and assured performance from us, defined by attacking intent, resilience after conceding early, and clinical finishing.

The victory provides a timely boost as attention now turns to our next Nigeria Premier Football League fixture against Plateau United in Jos.
