We return to action as we host Warri Wolves in a crucial Nigeria Premier Football League fixture at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abeokuta, our temporary home.
The move follows the NPFL’s decision to deem the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba unfit for league matches pending a new ground inspection, prompting us to adopt Abeokuta for our home fixtures.
Despite the change in venue, focus within our camp remains firmly on the task ahead. Following the away defeat to Kun Khalifat in Owerri on Matchday 25, we are determined to respond positively. With the season entering a decisive phase, every point is vital and we will be eager to bounce back and maintain momentum in the standings. Playing away from Ibadan presents a new challenge, but we will look to draw strength from supporters expected to travel and make Abeokuta feel like home.
Warri Wolves arrive as a competitive side known for their physical approach, discipline, and compact structure. They have also shown resilience on the road, capable of producing solid away performances.
We head into the fixture with a blend of experience and fresh faces.
There are encouraging signs for Coach Nurudeen Aweroro, with Joshua Akpan, Sodiq Ibrahim, Ganiyu Wasiu, Adams Mustapha, and Alex Aghahowa all back in full training and could be available for selection.
Austin Onyemaechi remains sidelined due to illness, while Samuel Okon continues his rehabilitation. Awosanmi Promise is being rested, and Tijani Al-Ameen is suspended following his red card against Kun Khalifat.
The midfield unit appears settled, with Stephen Amos, Tunde Azeez, and Tijani Kabir expected to provide balance and control.
Namapele James and Ismail Ayodele are available and likely to operate from wide areas, while Alade Balogun and Lucky Emmanuel lead the line. New signings Tamuno Kalio and Timitimi Ineikade are also pushing to make their debuts.
Warri Wolves are expected to rely on Chisom Orji for width and pace on the flanks, providing an outlet in transition. Tejiri Emonena is set to anchor the defence from centre-back, bringing composure and organisation as the Seasiders aim to remain compact and difficult to break down.
We will aim to maximise home advantage in Abeokuta, maintaining discipline and taking our chances to secure a vital win.
Warri Wolves, strong away from home, will depend on structure and counter-attacks, making focus and patience essential for us.
With every point crucial at this stage of the campaign, a victory would provide a timely morale boost and reinforce ambitions for a strong finish to the season.
