MATCH REPORT

Shooting Stars SC 1–0 El Kanemi Warriors

Shooting Stars Sports Club returned to winning ways with a hard-fought and well-deserved 1–0 victory over El-Kanemi Warriors in our Matchday 15 encounter at the Lekan Salami Stadium. In a match defined by intensity, organisation, and purposeful attacking play, the Oluyole Warriors secured all three points through a composed first-half finish.

A Fast and Dominant Start

We began the match on the front foot, immediately applying pressure and forcing El-Kanemi into uncomfortable situations. An early corner signalled our intent, and not long after, Qamar Adegoke almost found the opener, only for the visitors’ defence to hold on.
Throughout the opening stages, we dictated possession and kept El-Kanemi pinned inside their half.

The visitors offered a brief scare in the 4th minute with a header that went wide, but control quickly returned to Shooting Stars. In the 14th minute, Awosanmi Promise whipped in a dangerous ball across the face of goal, but El-Kanemi managed to clear under pressure.

The Breakthrough

Our persistence paid off in the 28th minute. A beautifully weighted pass from Ayobami Junior sliced through the El-Kanemi defence and found Ayodele Ismail, who applied a calm, clinical finish to put Shooting Stars 1–0 up.
The stadium erupted as we took control of the match with confidence.

Second Half Control

The second half maintained a similar pattern, with Shooting Stars remaining disciplined, composed, and defensively organised. El-Kanemi pushed for an equaliser, but our backline stayed firm, winning duels, intercepting danger, and limiting the visitors to speculative efforts from distance.

Coach Nurudeen Aweroro introduced fresh legs to maintain the tempo and control of the game.

  • 57′ – Ekeocha Chukwudi replaced Awosanmi Promise

  • 70′ – Jonah James Eni came on for Qamar Adegoke, marking his official debut

  • Late changes – Alex Aghahowa and Emmanuel Ndubueze replaced Ayobami Junior and Jamiu Hamzat

The substitutions added stability, energy, and defensive assurance as we managed the match expertly through the final minutes.

Full-Time: A Deserved Home Victory

Despite El-Kanemi’s late push, Shooting Stars managed the game with maturity and secured a well-earned victory built on possession, patience, and defensive solidity.
The win strengthens our position on the NPFL table and continues our impressive home form this season.

What’s Next?

Next up, we host Remo Stars on Wednesday in a high-stakes South West derby. With momentum now on our side, the Oluyole Warriors will look to build on this performance as the season intensifies.
