MATCH PREVIEW

Kwara United vs Shooting Stars SC

We hit the road again this weekend as Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) travel to Ilorin for a high-stakes Matchday 14 clash against Kwara United. After a narrow defeat away to Rangers and the postponed fixture against Remo Stars, our focus is now fully on bouncing back strong and regaining momentum in the league.

Form Guide

This season, we’ve maintained a clear identity, compact at the back, energetic in transition, and expressive in the final third. However, recent results have been tight battles, including a 1–1 draw with Katsina United and a narrow loss to Enugu Rangers. Coach Nurudeen Aweroro will be keen to turn good performances into maximum points as we push forward.

Kwara United, on the other hand, return to the Rashidi Yekini Main Bowl after a 2–0 defeat to El-Kanemi Warriors and a 1–1 draw against Nasarawa United. Sitting mid-table, the Harmony Boys will look to use home advantage to disrupt our rhythm and get back to winning ways.

Team News

There’s positive news on the injury front for us.
Samuel Okon has undergone a successful Achilles tendon surgery and has begun rehabilitation.
Joshua Akpan continues his recovery and is edging closer to full fitness.
Awosanmi Promise and Ayodele Ismail have returned to full training and are in contention for selection.
Alex Aghahowa is also back and could make his first start of the season.

In midfield, Ayobami Junior remains key to controlling our tempo and linking our attacking play. Sodiq Ibrahim continues to pose a major threat in the final third, while Adams Mustapha is pushing hard for a starting role.

The Opponent

Kwara United will likely look to Babatunde Sikiru to lead their attack, with full-back Yahaya Ibrahim providing both defensive cover and attacking width. Midfielder Toyeeb Gidado offers creativity and ball progression, making the Harmony Boys a disciplined, compact threat built to exploit counterattacks.

Tactical Expectations

We are expected to press high, use width aggressively, and move the ball quickly in the final third. Converting early chances will be crucial against a side that prefers to sit deep and stay organized.

Kwara United could try to frustrate our build-up, slow down our tempo, and capitalize on counters and set-piece moments. With both teams pushing to climb the table, we can expect a strategic battle with little room for error.
